TRUFFLE HUNTING IN TUSCANY

Step into the heart of Tuscany and embark on a sensory adventure during our highly anticipated truffle hunting season. Much of Villa Lena’s 500 hectares consist of forests teeming with wild boar and, from mid-September to Christmastime, the famous tartufo bianco, or white truffle. These ancient woodlands surrounding our hilltop villa are the perfect setting for a truffle hunt, the ultimate autumn tradition in Tuscany.

Our “silent hunt” sets off quietly not only out of sincere respect for nature, but also to create a beautiful, sacred sense of peace as you search for some of the best white truffles in the world.

TRUFFLE HUNTING EXCURSIONS

How does truffle hunting work? You’ll first jump into a forest-green SUV with our expert guides and truffle dogs, leaving Villa Lena when there is still a touch of early morning fog in the hills. Set off in small groups for a one- to two-hour walk in nature, where you’ll learn the forest’s fascinating history as a sacred place for the Etruscans, detect the call of birds and the tracks of wild boar, and discover the signs of hidden white truffles. After a relaxing morning, you’ll return to the Villa with the famous tartufo bianco of Palaia secured.
