In the mood for a relaxing Tuscany villa and pool experience? Three outdoor pools are available to all guests at Villa Lena, including a children’s pool. The main pool is located next to our San Michele building and restaurant and has extraordinary vistas across the Tuscan landscape, as well as shaded seating around the poolside bar. Joining us for the cooler spring and autumn months? Don’t despair—the San Michele pool is heated!

A 10-minute walk from San Michele is a secluded pool in the garden of the Renacchi building, with sun loungers, a playground, and a grassy lawn for the little ones. Guests staying at Casetta Bella also have the benefit of their own private swimming pool.

Yogis can dedicate time to their practice indoors or outdoors at Villa Lena. Our Fattoria building features an airy yoga studio filled with natural light, perfect for retreats and private classes. Or, get your flow on while surrounded by nature on our panoramic yoga deck, designed by previous Villa Lena Foundation artist in residence Fred Rigby. Shaded by a sail canopy, this special spot overlooks our olive groves below and the Apennine mountains to the north. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat or borrow one of ours.

The hotel reception on the ground floor of Fattoria is a quiet space with a spacious lounge area that showcases Villa Lena’s ambitious social and cultural objectives. It features an original fireplace and limited edition prints made by previous Villa Lena Foundation artists in residence in collaboration with a master etching studio in Florence, Il Bisonte. You will also find unique artworks from the Villa Lena Foundation collection and important pieces of Italian design such as the Tahiti Lamp by Ettore Sottsass, from the seminal days of the Memphis group. There is also a small shop showcasing artistic collaborations, alongside Villa Lena products including olive oil and wine.

The bar at Osteria San Michele is the perfect spot to unwind with a drink. Cool off with a chilled spritz in the summer, grab a cozy table by the fireplace in the fall, or learn the secrets of classic Italian drinks in a mixology workshop with our expert bartender. If you fancy an outdoor aperitivo, our San Michele pool bar is open daily from 3pm until late for local organic wines, artisanal beers, and signature Villa Lena cocktails with a full food menu. Dramatic sunsets and post-dinner DJ sets with dancing often ensue. What more could you want?

Osteria San Michele is the ultimate destination for traditional Tuscan cuisine with a contemporary flourish. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and aperitivo, our farm-to-table kitchen centers around local, seasonal produce, harvested at peak quality from our organic vegetable garden and embellished simply by our chefs. Join us for our famous breakfast buffet prepared by our in-house pastry chef, homemade pasta with veggies from our garden, and other culinary delights—all served in our artwork-filled restaurant with breathtaking countryside views.

We warmly welcome visitors to our carefully maintained food and flower gardens. Just a five-minute walk from our central hub, you’ll find our flower gardener, Paul, tending to the seasonal blooms you see in beautiful arrangements all over our estate. Go a few steps farther and stumble upon our orto, where Tuscan farmer Gigi cares for row upon row of local lettuces, tomatoes, and other fresh veggies. Buzzing with wildlife, our gardens are the perfect place to learn about sustainable farming and Tuscany’s exquisite natural gifts.

Our home cinema—used for film screenings, artists’ talks, and other events—is also available for guests’ free use. Select a DVD from our collection of foreign films and lose track of time as it plays through our state-of-the-art Bose surround sound system. Next to the screening room is our library, the perfect place to relax with a book, play the piano, or catch a live music performance.

Working remotely? Do so with air conditioning, comfy seats and desks, stellar Wi-Fi connection, and countryside views at our co-working space in Fattoria, situated just next to the yoga studio.

Play is our specialty. Find games for all ages throughout our property, from billiards and table football at Fattoria to ping pong by the pool. Our pétanque court is fun for the whole family and can be found behind the bar next to the San Michele pool.

There’s no such thing as boredom at Villa Lena. Little ones are welcome anywhere on our estate, but they’ll be especially happy in the library at Fattoria. There we have coloring and drawing materials, as well as children’s books and art publications featuring former artists in residence. When it’s time to get active, splash around in our children’s pool and play with our selection of water toys, inflatable armbands, and other equipment, then refuel with treats from our poolside kids’ menu. More energy left? The Renacchi playground has swings, a slide, and plenty of playground activities for children. Finally, most of our creative workshops are kid-friendly, and we’re happy to adapt any activities for your children’s interests.

Dreaming of cycling through the Tuscan hills? Mountain bikes are available at reception! The nearest town of Palaia is only 30 minutes downhill, and it makes the perfect place to refuel on coffee and gelato before starting the slightly longer journey back up. For the avid cross-country cyclist, Villa Lena’s location offers incomparable hilly landscapes to explore on two wheels.

Green energy is a priority at Villa Lena, and we’re proud to offer electric car charging on site. Reduce your carbon footprint and travel to us in your electric vehicle stress-free.

Villa Lena’s magical 500 hectares stretch across rolling Tuscan hills, wild woodlands, and our beautifully maintained vineyards and organic gardens. Enjoy a leisurely nature walk and stumble upon your own secluded spot to have a picnic among the olive trees. For history buffs, follow our signposted trails to Toiano Vecchio, the 2,000-year-old Etruscan park that now hosts our firepit and Sunrise and Sunset Terraces. Fascinatingly, this renovated medieval park still features one of the highest viewpoints in the region. This sacred spot is where people from opposing villages once met for peace talks, and today, it’s our favorite place to drink in the expansive vistas across Tuscany and the Apennine Mountains.
