The San Michele Restaurant

Our San Michele Restaurant offers an innovative approach to farm-to-table with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available, as well as a tasty kids menu. Bespoke private dining experiences are available for groups of all sizes, whether in a quiet corner of the grounds or under moonlight in front of the Villa. We welcome all of those exploring this part of Tuscany, not just those staying with us. So even if it is only for one meal, please feel welcome to join us. We take reservations, have free parking and you can even bring your dog!

Serving breakfast from 8am, guests are invited to enjoy a traditional Tuscan breakfast, alongside additional items including due uova with fresh salad from the garden of Villa Lena, necci pancakes of chestnut and ricotta, and bruschetta with seasonal garden vegetables. Enjoy speciality coffee from Le Piantagioni Del Caffe, brewed locally in Livorno, or kickstart your day with the mimosa della casa of orange or grapefruit and the shakerato martino, made with espresso, amaro, and amaretto Adriatico.

Lunch at Villa Lena will be a convivial affair. The perfect intermittence to be enjoyed in-between one of the workshops or simply as a break from lounging by the pool amid the rustic Tuscan landscape, the menu will include smaller plates such as arancini with saffron, prosciutto and scamorza, and verdure dell’orto, a selection of pickled vegetables from the Villa Lena garden. To follow, fresh pastas will include rigatoni with cherry tomato passata and basil, linguine, with clams, garlic and bottarga and pici cacio e pepe.



As night draws in, guests gather for a convivial dining experience showcasing the unique charm of Villa Lena. Available a la carte or as a four-course set menu, start with small dishes including mussels with chili, cilantro and Thai basil or fried green tomatoes with aioli, followed by pastas including tagliatelle with white ragout or penne with tomato and burrata. Larger dishes will include slow-cooked lamb shoulder with garden herb salad and roast potatoes and the pesce di giorno, fish of the day with wilted kale and white beans. To finish chocolate tart with Villa Lena olive oil and Maldon salt is the perfect end to a delicious meal.

Perfect for an afternoon by the pool, our cocktail list includes the smoky and cheerful Art Star, made with mezcal, rabarbo, strawberry, lemon and Tabasco and bright and bubbly Arctic Sgroppino, made with lemon sorbet, Villa Lena’s sparkling rosé and vodka. Join us for Aperitivo Hour between 6.30-8.30pm and bask in the evening sun with a selection of antipasti plates, accompanied by cocktails or wine for a set price.



The Villa Lena wine list is made up of wines mostly sourced from Tuscany and the surrounding regions, with producers specialising in low intervention wine making. Try something from organic vineyard Do.t.e, from winemaker Filippo Calabresi, who creates ‘down to earth’ wines, with an experimental approach that results in wines that portray a unique interpretation of Tuscany’s terroir, or sample one of Ampeleia’s creations, a wine estate originating from the 1960’s that champions biodiversity and the local tradition of planning multiple grape varieties in each plot.
